THE CITY
The City is both a Griffey album and the world it lives inside. It is a heightened, near-future version of city life: rain on concrete, neon through apartment windows, crowded trains, empty streets at 2 A.M., ambition, instability, nightlife, isolation and the people who make a place feel like home.
THE SETTING
The City is not meant to be one literal place. It pulls from the feeling of modern cities Griffey has lived in and moved through, then pushes them into a cinematic, slightly cyberpunk world. Glass towers sit beside worn pavement. Technology is everywhere, but people are still trying to solve very human problems: money, belonging, love, survival, identity and what comes next.
It can feel cold, fast and overwhelming, but it is not purely dystopian. There is colour, humour, fashion, friendship and community inside it. The contrast is the point. The City can make you feel anonymous one night and completely alive the next.
City Kids are the people who learn how to make a home inside that chaos.
THE ALBUM
The City is built around survival, stability and uncertainty — the questions that come up when you are trying to build a life while the ground underneath you keeps changing. The project treats those feelings like locations inside the same world, with each song revealing another street, apartment, memory, relationship or side of Griffey.
Musically, the album moves through hip-hop, alternative pop, R&B, electronic and Latin influences while keeping the same late-night urban atmosphere. Rather than feeling like a collection of unrelated songs, the goal is for the project to feel like one night — or one chapter — spent inside The City.
